The Big Crown is reborn
The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date has been in constant production since 1938, and for 2025, the Holstein maker is using cheerful new colors and a bold integrated bracelet design to introduce fresh life and modernity into this beloved collection.
First introduced in 1938 as a pilot’s watch, the Big Crown has been a collection mainstay ever since, becoming Oris’s signature design. Its oversized crown was originally intended for gloved airmen but now serves a more aesthetic purpose, while the iconic pointer date function is now internationally recognized as a symbol of Oris’ mechanical inventiveness.
As with every movement in the Calibre 400 Series, the Calibre 403 powering this Big Crown has elevated levels of anti-magnetism, a five-day power reserve and a best-in-class warranty. It’s also accurate to -3/ 5 seconds a day – which would comfortably pass chronometer testing – and has 10-year recommended service intervals. The 40mm case is fitted to a matching, multi-piece stainless steel bracelet with a new folding clasp developed exclusively by Oris.
